1) confirmation messages / 2) faxviewer

Post by *raytc »

Hello,

1st problem:
I have T.Commander in evaluation but after days of working with it, i've not found a mode to stop these confirmation messages p.e.:
would you like to delete "file_name"?

I've all confirmations messages in the configuration - options - misc
sector deactivated.

2nd problem:
If i open a file (lets say a fax) a popup box with the question "choose the program to open this file" starts.
I select the reccomanded program and the option "always use the selected program" however next time again this popup window starts.
Closing and reopening T.commander and again this window.

Tnx.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

There is no option to suppress this message. Christian Ghisler doesn't want to realize this. - IIRC there was a hot discussion in the old forum (BC) about this issue.
But why not add a confirmation check box in the configuration menu so a user can uncheck it if he doesn't want to see this time taking "do you want to delete" message?

Same for all other messages like "copying" and "moving".

@Hacker
I suppose, this means Before Crash?!?!
AFAIK (:D), it was in the beginning of the last year or the end of 2002, when the last forum had a crash and all threads were lost, and I suppose, this is ment...

Maybe, we should do a poll about the usage of acronyms?

Best regards,
Marc

There is a thread in this forum with acronym explanation but the one used here was a custom one! ;)

Actually there is a way to avoid delete confirmation:
1. In Configuration - Options - Copy/Delete, enable delete via Explorer
2. On the desktop, right click on the "Recycle bin" and disable the confirmation messages

That's it! I'm not allowing this for the internal delete function, because there is no documented way to find out whether a drive has enabled recycle bin or not - so it would be very dangerous (the entire harddisk could be deleted with a single press of a key).

Good to know.

Would it be even possible to disable the confirmation messages when copying and moving files?

Does anyone know what can be the reason why T.Commander opens two times the faxviewer with the same fax and why it does not remember the setting "always use the selected program"?

Please export the following key and post it here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.xxx

xxx=extension of your fax document.

This is written in the FileExt directory:

default: value not set
a: WFXCTL32.EXE
b: WFVW32.EXE
MRUlist: fbdeca

Thank you.

This can only be seen in the subkey "OpenWithList", you mean that?

If that is the case (if not please see P.S.):

Delete the following keys:
1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.xxx
2. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\WFXCTL32.EXE
3. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\WFVW32.EXE

After that right click fax document, open with and reassign.

Icfu

P.S.:
Start regedit-navigate to the key .xxx, press file export, save on desktop, open with notepad and post the content.

Suggestion... :) I think Panos would call it "a very heated debate". :)
