How can I serch inside archives of OpenOffice (sxw, sxc...)?

Post by *Maese Cámara »

Files of OpenOffice are saved compressed. So if I want look for a word inside this files, I press Alt+F7, check "Search archives", check "Find text" and write the word. But this don't work.
I think I should add the extensions sxw, sxc... in some place in wincmd.ini, but where?

Just to add the extension wouldn't work. If TC can read a compresed file you can press [Ctrl]+[page down] with the cursor at the file and TC will browse inside (even if there is no extension at all.

Guess you will need a plugin for compressed OpenOffice files but unfortunately I have no idea which one or even if it yetl exists.

I don't have OpenOffice, so for trying, I download some ".sxw" from the net...
Surprise... it is the same code as ".zip" and I can open them, or search into, without change something... also when I change the extension !
(The two first caracter into the files are «PK» like in a real "zip"...)
I don't know if these files are real "sxw" made by OpenOffice...

Vansumsen seems to be right:

you can insert in wincmd.ini in section [Configuration]:

SearchInFiles=*.sxw *.sxc

and search in archives should work even for *.sxw.

I tried it too with a downloaded *sxw file.

Thank you. The line "SearchInFiles=*.sxc *.sxw *sxd" in the [Configuration] section of wincmd.ini is what I was looking for. :D

Hello, guys

Not directly related to TC, but indeed, the OpenOffice file formats are basically no more than zip'd XML files. Thus you benefit from the the zip abilities of TC for OpenOffice files.

Geoffrey
