"Save On Exit -> Directories" unchecked isn't w

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

"Save On Exit -> Directories" unchecked isn't w

Post by *HPA »

If you uncheck "Configuration -> Options -> Operation -> Save on Exit -> Directories" the directories and tabs are remembered when exiting TC.

With the next start of TC the directories and tabs are reloaded.

This is said in the help file if the item is checked:
"When Total Commander is closed, the directories shown in the left and right panel will be saved. This option will also save folder tabs when they are enabled."

But when the item is unchecked the last saved state is kept.

In another post I said that the "Directory History" isn't cleared when it is unchecked.

Only the "Panels" and "Old Command line" checkbox work when they are unchecked.

Confirmed (besides that "Directories" checkbox also works...).

It works in this way that it no longer saves the changed settings in the ini-file, but keeps the old directories and tabs.

If you want it cleared you have to edit the ini-file yourself, or use redirect, or just remove all the tabs yourself and after the next restart uncheck the Directories checkbox.

I was talking about "Directories" checkbox, which you claim to not work, which is wrong! If you check it, directories and tabs are remembered, if you uncheck it, the default saved directory config is loaded from the sections [lefttabs] and [righttabs].

The only thing that does not work as expected is the "Directory History" checkbox, two different things...

Of course you can redirect that section but as you have reported a bug, it should be solved, right? ;)

Hm, actually, there is an inconsistency - unchecking the "Old command lines" options deletes the old entries, while all the other checkboxes simply stop updating the saved values. Thanks to Icfu for pointing out.
