Encoding (Ukrainian) problem in Vista

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Encoding (Ukrainian) problem in Vista

Post by *mrEiger »

For some reasons M$ changed something in Windows related with encodings so that some progams, if they are not vista compatible or not with full UTF8 or Win1251 (do not know exactly i'm not a programmer) support can't handle with Ukrainian locale (keyboard layout). it's impossible to type in such programs with ukrainian characters. It types instead only "???????????". :!: With Russian locale everything is OK, but Russian and Ukrainian use same encodings Win1251.[/img]

You need to set the language for non-Unicode programs to Ukrainian. Total Commander is a non-Unicode program, and can only show ANSI names in many of its dialog boxes.

Hmm, I don't think that I can do anything about it then. Let's hope that Microsoft will fix it soon...
