Unicode support in filenames doesn't work correctly

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Unicode support in filenames doesn't work correctly

Post by *BSoD »

If I rename file by using F6, Unicode characters from its name are removed. If I rename file by Shift+F6, everything is OK. I use TC 7.0 PB3.

Welcome BSoD
please do yourself a favor and search for: "unicode" and for example: "chinese" within the forum. You may find already existing workarounds. It is often better to post into another equal thread than to create a new one.

TC 7.0 PB3
Better to test always the newest version (PB4). The development for unicode could have progressed.

Indeed Unicode isn't supported in F5 and F6 when renaming files, just when copying them unchanged. Only Shift+F6 (inplace rename) supports the changing on Unicode. This will not be changed before TC 7.5 or 8, because I will have to rewrite large parts of the program.
