ZIP compressed w/password in 4.51 doesn't uncompress anymore
I moved my hard drive, then updated Total Commander from 4.51 to 6.55, and my zip files with password compressed in 4.51 doesn't uncompress at all in any of the following:
Total Commander 6.55
WinRAR 3.0
Pkunzip 2.50
Pkunzip 2.04
WinACE 2.5
The error is: "Error uncompressing file.zip. Wrong password."
I have more than 100 zip files protected with the same password, so I'm doing everything as always.
I don't remember exactly the setting, but I think I was using the normal default configuration (use internal zip compression and uncompression) under 4.51.
Anyone experienced the same problem? Is there a way to recover my files? Can somebody help me with this?
Thanks in advance
Pat

Welcome to the board!
I cannot explain your problem, but if you only want to recover your files the most simple thing to do is to install the old version of TC in parallel to the new one. This is generally no problem.
The only problem that could occur is the location of your ini-files. You can find that out in TC by selecting Help/About TC. At the bottom of the window the ini files are named. If wincmd.ini and wcx_ftp.ini are in the windows directory, they are possibly overwritten by the additionally installed version - but I'm not shure about that. When the installation programme asks about the location of the ini files then simply select the programme folder for the "new" installation (i.e. the re-installed old version). I would also make a backup of the ini files so that you can always revert to present situation.

I assume the problem may be this:
In case the problem is really a forgotten password, hm, then no enhanced version of wcmzip32.dll will be able to fix it.
Karl
- Inside T.C. V4.51 the original wcmzip32.dll was replaced by the enhanced wcmzip32.dll which supports encryption/decryption.
- When T.C. 6.55 was installed on a new harddisk, it, of course, came with the original wcmzip32.dll which cannot handle password protected ZIP-files.
In case the problem is really a forgotten password, hm, then no enhanced version of wcmzip32.dll will be able to fix it.

Thanks, Clo,
for confirming you still offer this valuable file.
I could not check because at the moment access to private webspaces is blocked from my current location.
Actually, I am not too sure the problem really is crypto-wcmzip32.dll vs original wcmzip32.dll. Because this will only affect ZIP-archives, not ACE or RAR or did I misunderstand something?

He probably had an ecryption dll modified by someone else, who had added non-standard keys...
