Solved [Fixed]TC crash when searching for non latin chars in utf8

Post by *petermad »

To reproduce this do the following.

1. copy this word "Tømmer" without the quotes into Windows XP's Notepad
2. Save it in a file as utf8
3. Open the file in lister
4. Press S to switch to ASCII (DOS Charset)
5. Search for "°m" without the quotes
6. Lister AND TC crashes without any warning :!:

Confirmed. (TC 7.02a on WinXP Pro SP2)

But there's more:
- It happens on any file regardless of content after setting UTF8 view (press 7) + ASCII view (press S)
- The standalone Lister gives: "Access violation at address 7E448557. Read of address 00000000."

You ar right as long as there is a non-latin character in the search string, it seems.

You are right, I could reproduce it - but what sense does it make to use UTF-8 and DOS charset at the same time? This is completely senseless! I will change lister so the two cannot be set at the same time.

You are right - it was only this topic http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=137345#137345 that made me try.

Confirm fixed in TC 7.03 - and even with a better solution better than:
I will change lister so the two cannot be set at the same time.
