Strange bug with archives.

Post by *avada »

I found a strange bug. I have some zip files. If i place them in the same folder, sort them by name and open them one by one with TC in ascending order I get different file names then in descending order.
In ascending order I see these files
101501.zip > the.4400.s04e03.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101502.zip > the.4400.s04e04.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101503.zip > the.4400.s04e04.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101505.zip > the.4400.s04e06.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
In descending order:
101501.zip > the.4400.s04e03.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101502.zip > the.4400.s04e05.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101503.zip > the.4400.s04e05.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt
101505.zip > the.4400.s04e06.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt

because of the bug I can do this:

Image: http://www.imageocean.net/img/4942b2c0dadcd95982fee8136fde3e1b/tc.PNG

It looks like TC for some reason shows wrong filenames in the zips because if the two in the middle are alone in one folder I always get this:

101502.zip > the.4400.s04e04.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt

101503.zip > the.4400.s04e05.hdtv.xvid-bia.srt

I tried this with two versions of tc 6.56 and 7.02a.

I can confirm the bug with the files from your link.

However if I repack the files to new zip-files with the same names using TC's internal zip packer, then I can NOT reproduce the problem.

So it must be something in your specific files that "confuses" TC. What program are your files packed with?

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this problem - the files seem to be gone from the server too, no problem here with the files which are on the server now...

I had a copy of the files on my HD - can now be downloaded at http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/bug.zip

And I can still reproduce the bug in TC 7.03
