7.04a: "Search path not found!"

Post by *JFierce7 »

Hi -
"Search path not found!" is the error message I get when I try to search (Alt-F7) below a certain path on my system. This path had been created by a third-party program.
The strange thing was that I could change the working directory to this path and see all files, edit files a.s.o. However, the cited error message pops up as soon as I try to search.

I investigated the problem by FileMon: it reports that access to the path was denied. So I was looking at the NTFS ACL and I could reproduce the problem by applying these ACL to another (arbitrary chosen) path.

The ACL were set just to grant "Everyone" (no other user or group has special allow/deny rules) access rights according to the screenshot

I'd guess there's a certain flag responsible when opening the folder.

Second privilege from the top: search folder / execute file perhaps?

ah, well, yes. What can I say? I was so surprised that I could list the folder but not search it that I didn't think about that special privilege.

On the other hand - as long as I can list the folder I can search it, can't I?
