Cannot create a directory with "0" in it

Post by *Mormegil »

I run Total Commander 7.03 on Windows Vista Business x64.

When trying to create a new directory in a directory writable only by administrator (e.g. “c:\Program Files (x86)”), and the requested name of the new directory contains any “0” character (e.g. “0”, “dir0”, “dir0dir”, “dir.0”, “dir.0x” etc.), Total Commander shows only a plain Windows error dialog with “Error: Directory [dir.0] not created! [OK]”, and does not offer the “As Administrator” button in that message (if the directory name does not contain any “0”, it says the same error message, but in a custom dialog offering to retry it as administrator).

A workaround is to create a new directory using some temporary name, and rename it afterwards (there is no problem in rename, I am offered the “as administrator” option there).

Note: I tried the same at work, where I had 7.02a, and it worked correctly. After upgrade to 7.03, it is broken, too.

I can confirm it in TC 7.03 final, but not in the current beta version of 7.04. If any beta testers are reading this: Can you confirm that it works fine in TC 7.04 beta? I tried with name "dir.0".

I can confirm the fix with TC 7.04 / Vista ultimate 32Bit SP1.

1. Message box:
Error: Directory [dir.0] not created!
[ok] [As Administrator]

2. UAC :: [Continue]

 "C:\Program Files\dir.0" is created!

2DrShark,
What's the difference in yours procedure?

Regards,
Holger

Re-checked again: yes, bug fixed. Looks like I forgot to press "As admin" first time...

The fix was confirmed in August 2008.
Any reason why this thread has not been moved to the TC7 Fixed bugs section by January 2009?

Been waiting for the OP.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Normally I wait for the thread starter to comment, but with multiple confirmations it's OK to move it to fixed bugs too.
