I have just testet with a clean ini file - only change is the gray background color: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/thumbback2.png

Still the same error.

Sometimes the Internet Explorer version can be significant - I have IE 8 installed (not that I use it much though). What about the testers that don't see the error under Win XP SP3 - which IE version do you have?

Hi, boofo.

Well, the question is, "what is messed up"?

The white thumbnail background can be reproduced using T.C. 7.50 pb3 with an "emptyTC.ini" where you only set the file panel background color to light grey, but leave the rest on T.C. default values.

You can hardly call an empty T.C. config file messed up, can you. :?

This may suggest that the bottom of the problem may be located outside Total Commander and somewhere inside the general display properties.

Even those need not be messed up. (Messed up meaning that some misconfiguration has been done. This cannot be true for any system configured by me, because there is an axiom which simply confirms that I do not misconfigure any Windows system, never, others do, not me. 8) )

Anyway, currently we have reports on
+ WinXP SP1 where the T.C. 7.50 pb3 thumbnail view works correctly
+ WinXP SP1 where the T.C. 7.50 pb3 thumbnail displays thumbnails having a white background
+ WinXP SP3 where the T.C. 7.50 pb3 thumbnail view works correctly
+ WinXP SP3 where the T.C. 7.50 pb3 thumbnail displays thumbnails having a white background

None of all these systems exhibited any issues when using thumbnail view in T.C. 7.04a.
The issues started with T.C. 7.50 pb2 and have not vanished with T.C. 7.50 pb3 for all.

Therefore, it is pretty illogical to suggest that the affected systems suffer from misconfiguration. It sounds much more likely that the side effects brought about by the TC7.50pb2 changes have not been corrected completely by T.C. 7.50pb3. Because T.C. has changed, our systems have not.

Kind regards,
Karl

I had no doubts you were telling the truth. :)

I know. And of course I do misconfigure a system on rare occasions but no eye witnesses are ever available to tell anybody. 8)

<OT>
Is there any way to allow this site to view images from my site and yet be blocked from any other site?
Very general approach:
The web surfers must have configured their browsers to pass on the referrer header.
Your web site will have to query the referrer header and make sure that the incoming surfer has been redirected to your web site by this forum board.
Cannot give you a more precise step-by-step instruction, because I simply do not know the details. :oops:

I could find the problem now! It has nothing to do with the original bug report of this thread. It happens when a plugin or the Explorer method returns a 32-bit bitmap. These can have a so-called Alpha channel, which gives a transparency value between 0 and 255. It seems that on systems before Vista, the function AlphaBlend to show these images works a bit strangely. I already found a workaround and will include it in the next beta. Thanks for your help.

Hello, Christian.

Can no longer reproduce the display problem identified by you.

+ Windows XP Prof SP2, 32bit, ger
+ Total Commander 7.50 PB4

Kind regards,
Karl

Have not had a chance of verifying that this problem has been solved on Vista as well. Will report back as soon as this has been done, unless someone else is faster than me (which should be pretty easy).

<Added>
What a nonsense. :oops: The problem had been fixed for Vista with PB3 already. - As my own screenshot illustrated.

Yet, I can confirm it still works on Vista and T.C. 7.50 pb4. :)
