defective copying/moving in TC 7.5beta6

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

defective copying/moving in TC 7.5beta6

Post by *pcitrus »

When I copy or move a 5 GB folder containing many subfolders and files from partition D:\ to partition E:\, I patiently wait for it to finish, when two minutes later, TC told me that there's NOT ENOUGH SPACE in E:\!

Well, it's true, but why can't TC FIRST calculate before even starting the job? Now it's half done, and I have to manually find out which portions have been moved and which part remains in D:\
When you burn a CD, your CD burning software calculates the size first.
Why can't TC perform such a basic function?
(I know, when you are ready to copy/move, TC will calculate the size of your file. But that's far from what we need here. If we do everything by the eye or hand, what is a computer for?)

If this is not a bug but by design, please consider this as a suggestion.

This has been discussed a few other times here. Try adding:

SizeCheck=1

to the Configuration area of the wincmd.ini file.
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

How do I un-overwrite all my data?

If it is an NTFS drive, the SizeCheck=1 should work, shouldn't it?
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

Thank you both for replies.
partitions are all NTFS.
After adding
SizeCheck=1
to wincmd.ini configuration portition, restarting TC, it still starts to copy immediately, although I've selected a folder much larger than the free space available on the target partion.

But at least you are seeing that when it copies, right?

TC warns only when a file wouldn't fit, not when the entire copy job wouldn't fit.
