Log file does not list Ctrl-C/V/X operations

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Log file does not list Ctrl-C/V/X operations

Post by *palthaus »

Hi!

First of all, thanks for this terrific, irreplaceable and vital new "swiss software knife" release! :)

Test Case
I use the operations logging function to track all my moves.

Symptom
Unfortunately, I observed that copy/move/cut operations done with Ctrl-C/V/X are not logged.

Short analysis
This behaviour is equal on local and network drives.

Environment
Windows XP SP2 English
MUI Swiss German

Thank you in advance for checking this.

Kind Regards

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !
…Unfortunately, I observed that copy/move/cut operations done with Ctrl-C/V/X are not logged. …
• I assume that these operations performed by Windows itself don't return any useful info to log them…
- In the same painting :
It's not possible to log the unpacking operations for the Microsoft *.CAB archives when they fail…
¤ In fact, the Windows functions related to this operation don't return any useful information which should allow to know if the unpacking has failed…
So, only the successful operations will be logged…
 Kind regards,
Claude

Hi!

Thanks. :)

Well, I suppose it would be possible to capture the Ctrl-C/V/X events when Total Commander windows has the focus and work with the clipboard value as well as with the actual focused panel value, i.e. path.

Perhaps it would even be possible to reroute these operations to classical Total Commander move command! :P

This would at least allow to log successful operations (check if destination contains clipboard information).

But I don't know the programming language used fo Total Commander and if there is an API or Class Object allowing to get this information.

Maybe... Hope still remains! ;)

Unfortunately these commands are handled by Windows, and TC isn't informed whether they were successful or not.
