Does TC have any type of "bookmark" ?
Hi Everybody,
Does TC have any type of "bookmark" (like you might find in a text editor) to save your place in a directory list?
I know I could make a file "comment", but I want to avoid all of the scrolling.

TwinKey plugin/tool has a bookmarking and stickyFile feature. I haven't seen any other plugins with those abilities.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.
Hi, Steve.
For folders it is a one-step-action: Use the Directory Hotlist (Ctrl-D) to add the current folder to the directory hotlist. Select "Add current dir".
For files it is a two-steps-action:
Use the Directory Hotlist (Ctrl-D) to add the current folder to the directory hotlist. Select "Add current dir".
Next press Ctrl-D again. Select "Configure".
In the list of saved foldernames, select the foldername which you have just added and append \name of the file to the foldername. Select OK.
You can jump to the saved filenames / foldernames by pressing Ctrl-D and selecting the appropriate entry from the Directory Hotlist.
Kind regards,
Karl

Btw., guys, this is in the Frequently Asked Questions, karlchen wrote:For folders it is a one-step-action [..]
Q: How can I quickly switch to an often used directory?
A: Either use the directory hotlist (CTRL+D), or create a button in the button bar or an entry in the start menu. The directory hotlist allows to add/remove the currently active directory. To add a dir to the button bar, select the directory, hold down the SHIFT key, and drag the directory to the button bar. A new icon will appear. You can also create a menu item in the "Start Menu" using the command cd c:\dirname. (Total Commander requires you to specify the whole path).
You can have links to files in directory hotlist, just copy full path to file and insert its path into hotlist item:John Sevier wrote:Yes, I am trying to bookmark a particular file.
Code: Select all
cd C:\Windows\System32\dvdplay.exe
Bookmark through a .lnk file

- Create a shortcut of the file or folder you want to open [Ctrl+Shift+F5]
- Open properties dialogue box of the .lnk file [Alt+Enter]
- Append the fullpath of totalcomd.exe [such as "c:\Program Files\TotalCmd\TOTALCMD.EXE" /L=] before the content of "Target" of the property dialogue box. Use suitable parameters.
If there are lots of bookmarks, you can use inserting the 'fullpath with parameters' through 'shortcut' plugin (via Change Attributes).
Place the .lnk file(s) within a folder of your choice, or drag it onto the toolbar.
This is somewhat a roundabout way, but will be independent of the directory hotlist.
Pending a better solution, this is something you may try:Yes, I am trying to bookmark a particular file.
