Which Highligter (plugin) do you prefer?

Post by *Sombra »

Sorted in alphabetical order.

I wonder which plugins the people use and why, the pros and cons, etc.
If you know more plugins for this purpose, post here, please.

GSALister.
-extendable
-intuitive(not a big thing..but i.e. Syn is not for me)
-a lot of minor things like showing binary files well that make me like it
-the fastest such plugin

It is still way slower than the internal one, so I use it only when I have a lot of source to read.

I voted: None - But I would have liked an option: "I don't use any highlighter" - I format my code so it is easily read without it.

SynUs is the first one that I have used and I have never felt the necessity to use others.

In any case this pool has created in me curiosity and I will try also all the others!

I use Scintilla-Lister in combination with icfu's script Start Notepad In Lister of course I use SciTE instead of notepad.
IMHO Scintilla-Lister is faster than others an if I want to edit a file I prefer an standalone editor instead of a plugin.
Probablemente no

imho SynUs is by far the fastest of them all. I always go back to SynUs 1.6 after toying with them. SynUs displays any files instantly whereas all the 'advanced' new ones - after 1/3 to 2/3 sec delay (unacceptable in my opinion)

I'm annoyed SynUs doesn't remember wrapping of lines.

So I use Syn2 by Sepa.

A very long time I was using SynPlus. Now I am using Syn2.1 (continuation of Syn2 by Sepa). Syn2 (Sepa) was buggy and I got exceptions daily. Syn2.1 is very stable and has useful features. Like TC these features are only discovered by studying shortcut keys and working with this plugin some days. Some highlighters looks a little bit weird, but highlighter schemes can edited easily with integrated config tool.
