How to create a new text file

Post by *ralrra »

Hello TC-Team
i'm sure that is implementated but i didn't find it. How is it possible to create an empty text file via TC? I need it for that “.nomedia“ feature of android.

Thanks for that wonderful software, works absolutly fine on my Samsung Galaxy S.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

This must be old information. This no longer works. The context menu only show "Exit, New Folder, Configure and Help".

This isn't the context menu. You get the context menu by long tapping on the "go up" directory entry "..".

That is not a very intuitive place to put it. How about adding to the menu (i.e., where New Folder and Configure appear). That makes more sense to me.

The matter of fact is, orthodox Commander users several times a day read history text file with all the fixes and improvements Christian in his Wisdom put here (you can find it not a very intuitive place to put as well) and updates regularly and precisely as Swiss chrono. So it's absolutely natural for us to perceive instinctively that:[/face]

Code: Select all

2011-04-06 Added: Create new text file (in context menu of any folder or "..")
[face=courier]I guess that's because of our intuition for all these years automatically synchronised with Chistian's one exactly as Android device synchronising with Google services. Actually we are a sort of sect here, really.[/face]

[face=courier]And some news, BTW (kinda old news but may be you missed that):[/face]

Code: Select all

2015-12-17 Added: Long tap on "..": "New text file (UTF-8)" creates file with UTF-8 BOM and opens editor

It would be ideal to show it when long tapping on the empty space in the folder, but unfortunately there is no notification from Android when the user does this.

Well, I don't have any in most cases %) Anyways, long tap on ".." is very useful and elegant way to go, IMHO.[/face]

I myself encountered the problem of the topicstarter.

Same conclusion: not a logical place to tie the submenu with New text file option to the 'go up' button. Would be much better to have that on Settings menu, along with New Folder option.

Just my 5 cents.

Thanks for the good Android file manager, btw.
