Quick View of MP3's freezes TC

Post by *bean224466 »

When using Quick View (Ctrl-Q) for mp3 files, TC freezes. I have reinstalled TC, deleted all plugins, external viewers work perfectly, other files are displayed correctly; the problem is only with Quick View + mp3.

My guess is that at some time some codec was installed by some audio software and TC cannot pass the file to it but I do not know how to get out of this situation and I do not want to reinstall Windows. I had all my codecs listed by Windows Media Player but it is a long list and does not really help. Please advise. I have Windows 7 32-bit and TC 8.01.

(Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Media Player did not help.)

Sounds like a bad Video for Windows codec. Try installing a plugin like mmedia which ovverrides the internal viewer for mp3.

I am back to the same problem. Without any reason TC went back to the same behavior, i.e. freezing when trying to use QuickView for mp3 files.

I reinstalled TC and installed wlx_mmedia254 then wlx_mmedia260u but whatever I do the best I can get is Error 80040154. This is driving me crazy.

Update: I know what happened. A few weeks ago I disabled Windows Media Player...

Can anyone help me as to how I can disable WMP without these kinds of problems?

These plugins use the Windows Media Player control. I'm not aware of any plugins using some other media player framework.

You do not need to uninstall WMP, just do not associate it with any extensions. Media Player controls should then still work.
