Problem with ESC key

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Did you try what the message says: pressing the ESC key to release it?

Is this in a virtual machine? This can happen when a hotkey including ESC is used to leave the virtual machine (Ctrl+Esc?), or the virtual machine is otherwise left while ESC is down. Then the virtual machine may still see the Esc key as pressed.

I too am receiving this ESC error.

When I first updated to 8.51a (64 bit version) I started receiving this error. So, I thought it was my keyboard. Therefore I went and purchased a new one. But alas, the error still occurs :(
In answer to the other questions...
Yes, I did press ESC but nothing happened.
No, it is not a virtual machine.
No hotkey set, I checked for Hotkeys Ctrl-Esc is not set to anything.

This is very strange - TC show this when the check of the ESC key state reports that it is pressed...

TC has to wait until ESC is no longer pressed, because ESC aborts most file operations.
