Visual differences of x64 and Win32 versions

Post by *Lefteous »

The idea of this thread is discuss the visual differences of the x64 and the Win32 version which are not exactly bugs. The visual differences cannot be classfied as bugs as it's not clear which of them displays the desired look.

All tests performed on Win7, x64 using both TC 9 beta 2 versions. What I found interesting is that using flat or non-flat settings didn't make a difference in most cases.
  • Drivebar button icon, unselected (flat icons or non-flat buttons): Vertical position differs by 1px.
  • Drivebar button icon, selected (flat icons or non-flat buttons): Horizontal position differs by 1px.
  • Drivebar button parent dir label (flat icons or non-flat buttons): Horizontal position differs by 1px.
  • Hotlist and history buttons (flat UI): Background color differs (grey vs. white)
  • Hotlist and history buttons (flat UI or non-flat UI): Vertical position of icons differs by 1px.
  • Column headers, sorted column: Sort arrow and caption vertical and horizontal position differs by 1px.
To be continued...

This is happening because Delphi and Lazarus use different user interface libraries. They are probably just rounding differences...

OK, and what about
Hotlist and history buttons (flat UI): Background color differs (grey vs. white)
Is this a rounding difference too?
I´m using TC 32bit at work and TC 64bit at home - it is still confusing, especially other colors which you cannot handle.

There are more things listed above that are unlikely to be rounding differences. The vertical shift in the column header affects only the sort column. The other column captions are aligned in the same way on 32 and 64 bit.
For me it sounds like a special handling of the sort column which wasn't ported.
