Compare files/directories in a queue

Post by *Marcello Ptr »

This is feature request that I have had in my mind since many years.
I know if would save me, and other people I imagine, counteless hours of work.

We can already copy files in a [F2 Queue]
Is it possible to similarly queue a compare operation ?

This comparison would most probably involve, but not necessarily, the same files in the directory that was we previously copied.

I'm aware of the already existing [Verify] checkbox, but it's not the same, also because the verification of each file after it's copy destroys the read-ahead caching feature of the OS and therefore makes the copy of many files way too slow (that's at least my understanding of the speed problem when using 'Verify').

To have the queue to optionally halt if the comparison fails would be a completely acceptable solution with me, or another possibility would be to report any problem into a log file.

I understand this is harder to implement than it seems. Besides many things could be done with a queue of such kind and probably other feature requests of this kind would probably begin to flock starting from this one, but together with that I imagine even more people would be attracted to your software.

Does this suggestion deserves a poll?

Thank you for all, whichever the decision will be.
