AND and OR operators in text search

Post by *Lefteous »

Currently there are all kinds of options in TC text search but a simple search for certain words which appear in different places is not easily possible. The user has to use plugin search to achieve this.

It could be done by
1) Using AND as default, and OR using additional keyword (Google)
2) Still using whole phrase as standard and introduce new keywords AND and OR
3) different fields with different meaning (see https://www.google.com/advanced_search for details )

Would it be to difficult to add it?

It could get rather complex, especially when allowing braces like (A OR B) AND (C OR (D AND (E or F))). Nothing which can be added over night. I would probably have to use another checkbox, e.g. Use AND/OR/NOT operators, to not break the current search syntax.

Would be great if it could be considered for 9.5 and not become even more complex :-)

TC lacks these operators in other areas as well, even the plugin search - no way for complex formulas with braces.
F6, Enter, Tab, F6, Enter, Tab, F6, Enter, Tab... - I like to move IT, move IT!..

I'm not against such complex formulas - but for me just AND and OR would be enough.
