Is "dimmed icons" a correct term?

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Is "dimmed icons" a correct term?

Post by *MarcinW »

There is a "dimmed" term in the "Dimmed hidden files" configuration setting.

"Dimmed" means something like "darker". But the icons are in fact semi-transparent, so they are darker on a dark background and brighter on a bright background (which is the most often case for TC).

So maybe these terms would be better:
- "Show hidden files faded"
- "Show hidden files semi-transparent"

Regards

Hmm, I don't know - I'm not a native English speaker, and you don't seem to be one either, according to the name. a Google search for
dimmed icons
seems to give results for dimmed, greyed and faded.

Native English speaker here - dimmed is the correct term, IMHO.

The "dimmed icon" term appears more often than "faded icon" on Microsoft sites. So it may be in fact the right term...

The place to search for is the Microsoft Language Portal:
