Search window: enable checkbox 'Search text' automatically

Post by *sidefx88 »

On the TC Change Attributes window there's an option to change date/time of the selected files. On that window there's no need to check the checkbox "Change date/time" first. When you type a date or time value the checkbox automatically enables.

I think that this behaviour is very useful, at least to me. But, for example, in the Search window, when I try to type something in the field 'Search text' the checkbox linked to the 'Search text' function doesn't enable automatically. I think it would very useful, comfortably and coherent with other features inside TC, such as the 'Change attributes' window.

Maybe another TC dialogs/windows require the same treatment for coherence.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds good, and shouldn't make a mess because of checkboxes near fields.

Thanks!

I think that this is a minor change, so I hope CG add it before the 9.0 final release :)

Find Files: auto select the 'Find text' button

Post by *Mikefield »

Every time I use the Find text function, the Find text radio button must be activated 1st before the searched text can be written.
So it would be fine if the button will be active if the (mouse) cursor selects the text field and the text can be written directly.

You will still need exactly one click as it is now:
1. Currently you should click checkbox to enable it and put cursor to text field (note that TC focuses text field for you when you enable checkbox) if checkbox is disabled.
2. Currently you should click text field to put cursor to it if checkbox is enabled.
3. With your suggestion you will need the same one click to put cursor to text field and enable text search...

I think it won't hurt if edit field will be enabled always, and checkbox may be auto-enabled when text field is changed, but focus switching feature should be kept: when checkbox is clicked (or changes its state), text field should be focused (or it should keep focus, cursor position and selection if it was already focused when Alt+Key is pressed or checkbox is clicked by mouse).

Find text checkbox check by mouse click in the text field

Post by *nemadeka »

When searching (Alt+F7) for files containing specific text, if you use the mouse (I normally don't), before you can enter the text, you must carefully aim the mouse pointer and check the "Find text" checkbox.

I think it would be nice to have this checkbox checked automatically after a mouse click in the text field.

Thank you.
