QuickSearch plugin crashes (win10 v1607 b14986.1000)

Post by *Bluestar »

Hello,

I've noticed an interesting malfunction when trying to use the QuickSearch plugin for TC.

When I press the Ctrl + S hotkey, the quicksearch dialog appears as it should, but just this moment the whole TC freezes, you need to kill it by using the task Manager - its just fully unusable & frozen after the QuickSearch dialog opens.

It all started (at least I think so) after updating to the latest & current Insider build, which is 14986. Dunno if this is the real reason or not.. :?:

One more interesting fact: after starting ANY application using TC (by navigating to its folder and running it), THEN the QuickSearch works properly. But when you run TC & press Ctrl +S without any other action, it freezes. What the heck...

Any idea what could cause it? Can I help to debug the problem?

It doesn't happen here with TC 9.0a x86 and x64 under
Windows 10.0 (Build 14393) which is the actual patch state.
So you may have some nasty bug with the insider preview.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

Could you post your "tcmatch.ini"?
Does it crash in any directory like c:\? (or do you filter network shares / tsclient drives / plugin folders)
Could you try to deactivate the additional user interface?

Of course, my tcmatch.ini is here: http://pastebin.com/Ud3D1jXr

It crashes in every directory, I noticed this bug in system drive (C:\), totalcmd, but can be reproduced anywhere.

BUT it can only be reproduced until I start a software using TC (doesn't matter if I do this using TC's command line or by directly clicking on it inside TC), after I run any software I can use QuickSearch as well! Weird.

So to reproduce I do:
1. Start TC
2. Press Ctrl + S -> instant freeze

And the way it doesn't crashes:
1. Start TC
2. Enter "calc" (for example) in TC's cmd line, then press enter
3. Press Ctrl + S -> voila, it works. O.o

WOW! By deactivating it the bug is gone forever! :shock: This way I cannot reproduce it using the above steps.

Btw I don't really understand what is this additional user interface I can deactivate? The quick search box still appears as it did before, so I can't see any differences... are there any? (except that now it works? :D )

(to me the Deactivate option also seemed strange enough, like this: image - see the caption "2")

PS.: the only difference I can see in the ini is that my previous value was:

[gui]
override_search=2

and now (after disabling it) is:

[gui]
override_search=0

Although I never edited it by hand, so this must have been some default value previously (?) for QuickSearch, i guess?

Thank you for the feedback. Obviously the additional GUI written in Autohotkey has some problems in a certain version of windows 10.

To see the additional GUI in action see the first page in tcmatch.pdf. I know about the 2-display-bug, but I don't know what triggers it, as it is not always reproduceable. The default value is to show the additional GUI.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

QuickSearch eXtended 2.2.4 together with a wdx-Plugin

Post by *tuska »

2Samuel

Hi,
I have difficulties to get a prompt search-result when using QuickSearch eXtended 2.2.4 together with a wdx-Plugin:
FileDiz.wdx64 Long description 1 in connection with TC-comments. -> http://totalcmd.net/plugring/FileDiz.html

A little description of what is going on I have written here:
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=326271#326271

Could you please look into the matter?
Thanks!

Regards
Karl

EDIT on 15/03/2017:
I have updated the description since it has changed with
Windows 10 Pro Version 1607 (Build 14393.953)
