Show WDX plugin names in original case in plugin selector

Post by *MVV »

Please show original plugin names instead of lowercase ones in WDX plugin selection dialog in order to improve readability (NameCompare or SkipCompare is much more readable than namecompare or skipcompare).

Also it would be better to show file icon for WDX fields in selector dialog instead of folder icon (currently all icons in list are folder icons, for both plugins and fields)...

Do all other users like lowercase plugin names more?

I tend to agree that it would improve readability to use the case intended by the plugin author in most cases. Maybe there is a technical reason for the lowercase we are not aware of?

I'm not sure if I understood this correctly. I see no icons for plugins and field type-specific icons for fields in the field selection dialog.

Where / What is "WDX plugin selection dialog" ?

Currently I don't get it.

Lefteous,
All compare fields have folder icon (Sync tool, user-defined compare functions). Perhaps special icon would be better for compare fields (just like other field types have own icons).

Stefan2,
Using TC 9.0,
- open MRT and press [=?] button
- press + button in configuring custom column fields, custom tooltip fields, same plugin fields for finding duplicates etc

You are right, I didn't define a custom icon for these fields yet, as I did for normal content fields, e.g. using the button "[=?] Plugin" in the multi-rename tool.

Any suggestions?

When the plugin defines a custom equal icon it could be used. Otherwise use the standard equal icon should be used.

Sounds good, but icons are returned by compare functions so it is not easy to get them before calling these functions. But perhaps equality icon would be enough.

Sorry, I missed your reply.

Thanks for clarifying

Sorry, you are right. It's really in the compare function. So just the standard equal icon.

It would be better though to use a new icon in order to allow replacing it with iconlib. And, equal sign is ok but all standard WDX icons have a border so this equal sign icon should have it too.
