9.0a problem with sync

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

9.0a problem with sync

Post by *phedlund »

Greetings,
Using version 9.0a I have installed onto a pc. I then used the tc2usb utility to make a portable version on my thumb drive.

When i use the installed version the sync feature works fine.
When i use the version from the thumb drive, the sync program see no difference from my local directory and a network directory i am trying to sync to.

I have not noticed this issue with 9.0.

Thanks in advance.

Cannot reproduce. Synchronize directory function works properly here. It finds all equal, unequal, and missing files on either left or right side. Also tested with a local path and a network share using UNC paths. I used both TC32 and TC64 9.0a running from a portable installation made with tc2usb.

Perhaps it would be good if you would share more details. Like...

What are your sync settings in particular? (Perhaps make a screenshot of the sync dirs. window.)

Are plug-ins used for comparison? (If not, double-check that you really do not have any plug-ins enabled for the compare function.)

The only thing i have checked in the box is subdir's.
Other that that the compares are the same.

What settings are it in particular? I cannot try your scenario if you don't tell what settings you use. "The same" does not tell us what settings you use...

All checkboxes are empty except Subdir
The buttons on are Right arrow, Not Equal

Left side is
c:\Projects\CBS21xx_315\src\

Right side is
p:\Projects\CBS21xx_315\src\

I am unaware of any other settings for this utility.

You mean, the buttons "Duplicates" and "Singles" are not on either?

If you do not have "Duplicates" enabled, Sync. Dirs. will show you only files that are missing on either the left or the right side. It will not show you files that exist on both sides.

Also with your settings and with the green "right arrow" button not enabled, it will not show any duplicate file which is having a younger file date on the left side than its corresponding file on the right side.

The blue "left arrow" works the opposite: If not enabled, it will not show files whose file date on the right side is younger than on the left side.

Have you considered this?

EDIT: Corrected and cleared up the left/right confusion in my post. The green arrow is of course the "right arrow"...

The portable version uses its own wincmd.ini file in the program directory (to make it portable).
