any option to see file comment in Quick View panel?

Post by *leopoldus »

Is there any option to display file comments in Quick View pane (Ctrl+Q)? If it is not possible natively, may be some plugin allows it?

Not for Quick View,
but you can make a view with Custom Columns to show the field t.description.

Thank you Horst.Epp, but It's far not the same. If the comment is quite long, it is not possible to view it as a file property in the pane column.

Is there any plugin to display the comment in Quick View pane or any other similar way?

Looking at the description I think that would be: XPIInfo

Sorry, I don't see, what do you mean. Looking into the discussions at the pages you have linked to and it's Readme, the plugin handles only Mozilla's XPI archives format. Why do you think, that this plugin should/might deal with TC file comments in descript.ion as well?

You are right. I misunderstood the descriptions. Sorry. :(

Hi guys!

Any thoughts regarding my question? Since July 2012 nobody has suggested anything, but nobody stated as well, that there is no any solution at all. So last hope still lives.
May be it is possible to display comments in Quick View pane via some content plugin?

Thanks in advance!

Even it is 2017 the same question of Leopoldus is actual!
It is interesting how people did not understand so clearly stated question of Leopoldus. Even today I also would need a file commenting system built into TotalCommander that would do what Leopoldus suggested so cleary: quickview panel presenting long comments instead of file contents.
Maybe something appeared in the meantime to solve that problem, I would not know...

It is no problem to combine Quick View with a custom Columns which contains the supported comments.
The Quick view side shows the file contents and the custom columns the comments.
So what is your problem to use it ?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

But a longer comment will be shown fully if the cursor is over the file
in the custom view.
I guess no one will write viewer for all formats which also display arbitrary file comments. So one has to use what is available. :)
