File Dates of Directories are NOT preserved

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

File Dates of Directories are NOT preserved

Post by *Voltaire »

When having selected "preserve file dates" for copying/moving, the file dates of files are preserved, but the dates of directories are NOT preserved. I consider this as a clear bug! Dates of directories also have to be preserved!

That is no bug and you should first try the forum search.
Windows updates the dir time stamps automatically for NTFS volumes.

Where to set that the time stamps are not changed when downloading ftp-folders from a web hoster?

Btw.: the experience was that the folders on my Win-PC (with NTFS) got the date of copying and not the date the folders have on the ftp-server (even when preserving the file dates)! And this looks like a bug compared to what you tell ...

FTP is a completely different story because it depends on the FTP server, if this reports the tinestamps for files and directories. Do you see date/time when the file listing of the FTP is shown in TC? Furthermore it depends on a setting in TC. Do you have set this in wcx_ftp.ini:

Code: Select all

[default]
PreserveDates=1
If not then the default value PreserveDates=0 is active which means to not preserve timestamps for download; you can find more on this in TC help file (search for PreserveDates).

Voltaire,
Configuration - Options - Copy/Delete - Copy date/time of directories.

Roman
Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

@Hacker: that's the bug: that option IS selected, but anyway the time/date of directories are NOT copied from ftp to local NTFS or vice versa (but set to the time of copying) ...

wcx_ftp.ini looks like this:

Code: Select all

[default]
PreserveDatesUpload=1
PreserveDates=1
Btw: adding a line:

Code: Select all

PreserveDatesDownload=1
does not change anything ... I would wonder if it did ... ;)

FTP doesn't preserve the timestamp of folders. Currently this isn't planned, sorry.

Can you please change that status, declare it as "intended" and put it on your "to-do-list for missing options"? Thanx ...

When copying files by FTP to other hardware in your LAN, TC will still give all files a new (current) timestamp. This is not good !

Please Cristian, plan and change this a.s.a.p.

Please first check a.s.a.p. if the ftp server in question supports the MFMT command and reports it as part of its response to FEAT. ;)

Why would "As slow as possible" be on your or Christian's ignore list...? :twisted:
