music controls not working

music controls don't work on pop-up notification and on lock screen.I'm using androin 6.0.1 and 2.8 final. how can i fix it? please help.

Not confirmed, just tested it on Android 6.0.1. Please send me step by step instructions to reproduce, including how you open the player.

I just clicked on mp3 file. and play icon appeared. I swiped down statusbar to access notification. Clicks on play/next and close buttons did nothing, clicks on track name opens player.

Do I miss something in the system settings?

No, that's exactly how it should work - I have just tried it with your instructions to be sure, and it indeed does work.

Sometimes device manufacturers modify Android to add their own skins or custom behaviour. It's possible that the notification buttons fail in such a case, but I haven't received any similar reports so far. Which device do you use?

my device is motoX with 6.0.1 android (LineageOS). I have Sony Xperia Go with stock android 4.1.2 and the problem there are too.

Sorry, I don't have any devices with these brands. I have tested with Samsung, HTC, Sony, and various Google Nexus devices.

The Sony has Android 6 (Z3 compact). It doesn't have the problem. 4.1.2 is extremely old - isn't there at least a newer Lineage OS for your device?
