In this technet thread, someone suggests to explicitly load the dll because it gets unloaded by Windows 10 and then the crash occurs.
Please download the plugin, then install it by double clicking on wdx_filesys.zip in Total Commander.
To make sure the plugin is always loaded at startup, you can define a color filter (which does nothing):
1. Choose Configuration - Options - Color
2. Click on "Colors by file type"
3. Click on "Add"
4. Click on "Define"
5. Click on "Plugins"
6. Choose plugin "filesys"
7. Choose property "Name" OP: contains, value: >
8. Click on "Save"
9. Enter a name of your choice, e.g. loadonly
10. Select the just defined type in the list
"Or select predefined selection type"
11. Click OK
12. Choose any color, it would not be used anyway
Thanks Christian for the workaround.
It seems to be working. 3 full days without a single crash. Previously, it was crashing at least once or twice a day.
Will update in case this changes. Hope not. Fingers x'd.
EDIT: An additional full week without a single crash.

Good to read;-)
In the last days, I've made 10 times two Windows installations in parallel, one with and one without workaround (don't worry, it's fully unattended) and left it alone over the night. Result:
Without workaround: 7 times error next morning
With workaround: 0 errors.

For test purposes, I have modified my "filesys" content plugin to load the dll on Windows 10:
I'm a registered user of Total Commander for almost 10 years now and for the first time started to suffer from these random crashes on Windows 10 with Creators Update. The workaround appears to solve the issue. Is a new release coming with this fix integrated any time soon?
I've been working on a new release for the last few months, but there are many other things to fix (just look at this forum!), so I cannot say yet when it will be ready. For now, please use the plugin solution if you have this bug. Btw, this is a Windows 10 bug which also affects other program like some Microsoft Outlook versions, so there is some hope that Microsoft will fix this...
This should be fixed in TC 9.10 beta - could those with the problem please try it? The hack with the filesys plugin is no longer needed, so you can remove it. Thanks.

Thanks Christian. Trying the beta now with the wdx fix removed.
Will update later this week or in case a crash arises.
