Hello,

I have a small but annoying problem with Total Commander 9.0 a. if I try to open a x.PNG file, I get the following message: (see internet adress) Of course with check mark.

Oeps, I reed that it is not allowed (first time) to send an internet adress.

Maybe this way: lucyonline+nl + even + even+htm
(Moderator: https://www.lucyonline.nl/even/even.htm)

It is the window 'Opened with' than i have to choose a viewer (Faststone Image viewer)

I have tried several times, including from the place where the file is located, but unfortunately. With *.JPG files is going to be fine.

Most noteworthy is that it is going to be fine in Explorer, so it must have something to do with TC.

Does anyone know if I can put a specific setting somewhere in TC?

Excuse my poor English.

George

Other users (including me) have experienced similar issues in Windows 10, however, for me it didn't work in Explorer, either.

Would perhaps someone with the necessary knowledge be willing to write a tool where you specify the extension causing trouble and the tool would export all the necessary registry keys so we could compare them? I could write it myself in AHK but I do not know the registry keys.

afarensis,
I am afraid it's more of a Windows issue, though.

Mmh, I have defined *.png files to open with FastStone Capture 8.5.
Here are the entries which I can see in TC 9.0a:

a) Files - Internal Associations (Total Commander Only)...:
-) Type name: *.png, Actions-Open: "%Commander_Path%\Tools\FS_Capture_portable\FSCapture.exe" "%1"

b) Files - Associate With...:
-) PNG File (D:\Daten\Programme\TotalCommander\TCD_USB-Stick\TC32-64USB\Tools\FS_Capture_portable\FSCapture.exe "%1")

and I can open .png files with FSCapture.exe in TC as well as in Windows10-Explorer without problems.
TC 9.0a - 64 bit | Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 1703 (Build 15063.483)

Perhaps an Internal Associations (Total Commander Only) could help here?

Thanks for the additional info.

I work with Faststone image viewer and you're talking about Faststone Capture. That is another program?

And sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by this:
-) Type name: *.png, Actions-Open: "%Commander_Path%\Tools\FS_Capture_portable\FSCapture.exe" "%1"

b) Files - Associate With...:
-) PNG File (D:\Daten\Programme\TotalCommander\TCD_USB-Stick\TC32-64USB\Tools\FS_Capture_portable\FSCapture.exe "%1")

I think it's a internal association problem in total commander. No great problem, just a bit annoying.

It could help but it wouldn't solve the problem.

I think it's a internal association problem in total commander. No great problem, just a bit annoying.

This should show only by way of example, that with an internal association (Total Commander only)
it should be possible to open .PNG files without problems in TC.

I now have made an internal association (TC only) with fsviewer.exe.
It works again as expected in TC 9.0a.

You could try the following:
1- Menu "Files" - "Internal Associations (Total Commander Only)..."
2- Add - Specify file type: *.PNG, OK => Type name: *.PNG is shown
3- Actions - Open: "Path\To\Your\fsviewer.exe" "%1" (Icon of FastStone Image Viewer is shown)
4- OK, OK

Up from now *.png files should be opened in TC with FastStone Image Viewer.
---
Explanation concerning %Commander_Path%: This the path where the wincmd.ini is located.
In my case, the paths below are identical:
..........................................%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\FS_Viewer_portable\fsviewer.exe
D:\Daten\Programme\TotalCommander\TCD_USB-Stick\TC32-64USB\Tools\FS_Viewer_portable\fsviewer.exe
In folder "TC32-64USB" is the wincmd.ini file on my PC.
Thus, in this case, the path can also be indicated in a shortened manner.
