Can't connect through FTP

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Can't connect through FTP

Post by *pratamishus »

Hello everyone!

I am trying to connect to FTP and after connection the Get directory message halts and in about 10 seconds I get this message:

Write error! C:\Users\SomeUser\AppData\Local\Temp

And it doesn't show me the files on ftp window. I tried everything. I tried running as administrator. I tried to add all rights to all users there are in the security tab of the program properties.

Please, help me with that. the "filezilla" like commanders are nowhere near total commander in usability. I need this software to work.

The FTP client needs to store the directory listings in TEMP folder, which is set via environment variable TEMP or TMP. Apparently your TEMP directory is read only, so FTP cannot work.

Solution:
1. Create new folder c:\TEMP
2. Open control panel - System - Extended system settings (on the left side bar) - Environment variables
3. Change the TEMP and TMP varialbes to point to c:\TEMP
