2.80 version - MIUI problem with SD and Pendrive

Post by *sp4ubw »

Hello, from 2.80 is impossible to write or delete anything from external SD or USB stick.

TC does not show the application Documents and can not select a memory card for use. I tested it with latest MIUI (dev 7.5.4 and 7.5.11, hardware: Redmi Note 4X and android 7).

Everything was fine in previous version. Please check it on MIUI. :)

Unfortunately I don't have access to any MIUI devices, sorry.

I'm not aware of any change which could cause this. Is your device rooted or not?

No, it's not.
I do not use root to run netflix and showmax (and super mario run) :).

I will try to make a recording as it works on both versions of the Total Commander. Maybe it will help.

EDIT:

Having earlier version I added support for SD and USB Stick, then upgraded to version 2.80 and everything works fine. :)

In that case, the problem can be solved :)

At first I installed 2.80 immediately and then did not work as I wrote earlier.
Anyway, it works and it's most important.

Did you uninstall 2.80 before installing 2.72? In this case, the drive cache was cleared, so TC re-requested the permissions. I will try to add code to detect lost permissions.

can confirm. MIUI8 user. XiaoMi Redmi Note 4x. Installed TC a while ago. Worked fine. Now made a clean install of firmware, deleting all data. Installed TC 8.2 and couldn't make it write on external SD. Than removed TC and installed V.2.72 gave permission updated to latest, and it works fine

Hi,
I have the same issue on an Redmi Note 4.
Installed the most recent version from the play store and it will not able to select the root of the SD card.
Cant write anything to the card at the moment.

I would like to install the 2.72, but where can I get the apk from?

Thanks for your help!

Edit: no root of course

Could you try the latest beta from the play store instead, please?

Tested the beta but it behaves just like before.
I uploaded a short video as it is probably the best way to see what's going on.

The video shows an interesting error:
"Aktiviere zuerst Dokumente unter Einstellungen > Installierte Apps".
In English, this would be:
"First activate Documents under Settings > Installed Apps".

This must be a MIUI-specific option. Can you check that please?

Here someone had the same problem with other file managers, and apparently got it resolved...

I have been looking for this Documents thing several times and never found it.
A similar advice was issued within the QuickPic app. I thought it was an app specific note...
Now I finally found it so I could activate it. After that the TC prompt for the root directory of the SD card also appeared.
The problem is solved now!
Thanks for your help!
