Virus in Total Commander POWER PACK 1.0 ??

Post by *wolf »

I downloaded
http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/12/2/12-2-63.shtml
some months ago.

I have not used this download.

AntVir reports [Construction-Kits KIT/DOS.DBVG] signature
in file uncommen\progs\ain.exe

Maybe it is a false positive.

1. We dont know what TC power pack is.
2. TC is exe compressed, some virus scanners report problems with that. Download the unpacked version:
http://clubtotal.free.fr/index.php?dir=Releases/&file=tcmd603a_unpacked.exe.%2832bit%29.only.zip
3. TC is TOTALCMD.EXE, if you have something else, then you have been fooled. Delete the file immediately.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

PowerPack is an old collection of Plugins and tools for TC in one big archive.

Somebody packed all the files I was hosting on the old maxwish page (now called Club Total) into 1 archive, and it was offered to the public at softnews.ro (now changed into Softpedia.com).

filedate is Feb 2003, so most plugins will have been updated/replaced by now....

I downloaded this file and scanned it with Bitdefender - virus definitions updated today. There is no Virus code found. the sfv checksum is

Code: Select all

WinCmd_Power_Pack_www.softnews.ro_1.0.zip 0A1DF851
so I guess it's false positive

I wonder why these PowerPacks needed at all.
1. They contain many outdated plugins
2. They contain more plugins that you don't need and few that you need.
