Change the date and time (separately) of the selected files

Post by *misvin »

Hello,

In the Dialog box "Change attributes" I suggest to add possibility to change
the Date only (without change of files times) and the Time only (without change of file dates) of the selected files.

Thanks

I'm sorry.
Can you move my post to the forum for suggestions?

Just clear the Time: or Date: edit box to keep this part unchanged.

What do you mean?
You can already modify just the date and just the time
by leaving the other field alone without modification.

What do I miss?

You're correct when you think about single files. I guess this can be an issue when multiple files with different timestamps are selected.

And again a feature that's not easy to find, although it's in the help file (just checked).

Even an old UI can be intuitive if you allow your own intuition to flow.
I'd expected this behavior; tried it out: success.

but not in the English help:
Date You can enter the desired date here. It must be in the format shown by the letters!
Time Here you can enter the desired time. You can leave out the seconds (they will be set to 0)
Finally we found a bug here.

Thanks to all who replied my post.

If I understand correctly, then:

1. To change the date only of the selected files, I need to leave out the "hh:mm:ss" value in the time field (or clear the time field).

2. To change the time only of the selected files, I need to leave out the "dd.mm.yyyy" value in the date field (or clear the date field).

Please note that after first using of "Change Attribute" Dialog Box the values in date and time fields ("dd.mm.yyyy" and "hh:mm:ss") are replaced by last used date and time.

So I suggest to add additional checkbox near Time field.
