Total Commander Review

Post by *raminfaizy »

The name "Total Commander" is an alternative to the Windows Explorer. The shareware offers more features than the Microsoft standard file manager.

With Total Commander you get a replacement for the Windows Explorer. The File Manager interface reminds older (DOS) computer users of the good old Norton Commander: Two windows contain the files, volumes, and directories. Among other things, the program comes with an integrated FTP client and a ZIP function for packing and unpacking files. The software supports ZIP, ARJ, ACE, CAB, LHA, RAR, UC2, TAR and GZ formats. In addition, Total Commander easily works with long file names and can separate files from the program and put them together again.

With Favorites, you can quickly access certain programs and use the search function of the Total Commander to search for data. The other options are also configurable from the ground up. The Total Commander compares the contents of two files, finds duplicate files, synchronizes directories including the subfolders and executes pack and copy jobs in the background. An integrated image viewer for bitmaps and in conjunction with IrfanView other graphics formats completes the alternative Explorer.

Conclusion Total Commander offers a very good alternative to Windows Explorer. The software runs fast and stable. With Total Commander you have your files and folders under control.
