FTP - Move action works like Copy

Post by *dabazz92 »

Hello,

This is an old issue with TC, so I thought about reporting it.

1. Open FTP server connection in one window
2. Try to move file from local disk (pressing F6)
3. The file will be copied instead of moved. Also the confirmation dialog is the same.

Hello, dabazz92.

As you rightly say, Total Commander has never moved anything from the local disk to an FTP server or vice versa. It has always copied in this situation.
This behaviour is by design. Christian has explained more than once why he refuses to move to or from FTP servers.
So reporting it as a bug of T.C. 9.0beta17 does not make any sense.

Regards,
Karl

Yes, it's by design - but better report one bug too many than not reporting at all.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Hello. Is there a option to set the F6 to move the files over ftp?

No.
As already stated above: Copy is by design.

You never know if the transfer is really successful, just because the servers says it is OK ...

I always thought when an OK comes from the server, the transmission was OK. From this point of view, it's better if the move doesn't work anyway.
