Files more than 500,000 in one directory

Total commander may seen to hang (or need a long long time) , if calculating a directory with around 500,000 files inside (it is all no use temp files but eat ~ 400GB space), how can speed up the calculating times or prevent this event?

Which version do you use? TC should show a progress/wait dialog after about 2 seconds.
