"Verify after copy" CRC error really needs the ret

Post by *Fduch »

I often need to copy photos from other PC's SMB share (via Wi-Fi).

For some reason, the files are getting corrupted very often. A 10MB file might copy corrupted 4-10 times in a row. Corruption = ~1KB block of data replaced with garbage. Both HDDs seem fine.

TC is a lifesaver as it can verify the copied files.
But it has a limitation and it drives me mad.

When TC detects CRC error the only two option it presents are Abort and Ignore [All]. There is no way to Retry [All].

With my error rate, to copy 100 files I need to manually restart the copy up to 100 or more times.

Another gripe is that both options leave a corrupted file on my drive.
There is a slightly different scenario where I copy a deep hierarchy of small files. When TC detects corruption and I abort, I need to remember the name and path of the corrupt file, hunt it down and manually delete. Otherwise I cannot use Skip All option when I restart copy as it would keep the corrupted file.

A Retry option would have really helped me.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will consider it. However, you should try to find the reason of these errors. SMB should guarantee the correct transfer of files...
