Samba share missing in drives list

Post by *NM8618 »

Hi, I have a samba share I automatically connect with every W10 session, I can work with it without problems but it does not appears at TC drives list.
I can make TC to connect to it via Net > Network connections, but as I said, I am already connected.

Any idea what is going on?
Thanks in advance.

I've never seen samba share to show on drive list - except when I mapped them as drive. So... you haven't done that, I guess.

It is drive mapped, otherwise wouldn't be accessible at OS level

Drive mappings are user specific.
So stop using TC as admin if you mapped the Samba share as a normal user.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69

I'm running TC with the same user that mounted the samba share

The same user with the same user context (elevated or not)? Somehow I doubt that. Check TC's title bar to see if there's a ^ behind your user name. If it is, you're running TC as admin (elevated) which is NOT the user who mapped the drive.

Hi Dalai, the unit never appears, either if I run TC in elevated mode or not

Other ideas

- which TC version do you use?

-which drive letter do you utilize for that share?
Is that letter disabled in TCs configuration?

- type 'cm_ExecuteDOS' in TCs command line,
in the DOS-Box command line interpreter type 'net use',
is that missed mapping listed?

- open Win+R, type 'cmd' and ENTER,
in the DOS-Box command line interpreter type 'net use',
is that missed mapping listed?

To cut the size of the battle field: What happens if you start TC with a fresh INI file? Does the problem still occur with a fresh INI?
(Create a new folder, and start TC with TOTALCMD64.EXE /I=X:\TheNewFolder\test.ini)
