is there no unpack32_652.exe (yet)?

at least not where it used to be:

i prefer the unpacked version, uses less memory.

well, the packed file is unpacked at runtime, so the "program" which does the unpacking also needs memory.

And why is that important? The Exe is uncompressed once, not permanently, after that there is no difference.

Compressed exes are transfered faster to memory than uncompressed ones, because the hard disk is the bottle neck and not the CPU. The effect on the system performance is positive, not negative.

It's only important when a user starts several instances of a program.

Uncompressed - no changes of program-section - Windows loads the program once time in RAM for all instances. That means all instances uses the same program copy in RAM -> only a single program copy in RAM

Compressed - changes of program-section - Windows loads the program every time in RAM for every single instance. That means all instances use an extra - their own - program copy in RAM -> multiple program copies in RAM.

Windows is intelligent sometimes.

Don't forget to load:

You don't need run unpack32_653.exe, you can extract it manually - it's SFX ZIP file.
Open it by CTRL+PageDown and copy TOTALCMD.EXE to the opposite pane.
Then close TC and replace TOTALCMD.EXE in program directory.
