A file encoding report tool or plugin needed

Post by *dusan »

Does anybody know if there is a tool or a plugin for TC that can list the following on multiple files :

* file encoding : (Native, UTF-8,UTF-16...)
* BOM Mark : (Yes/No)
* Line Ending (Unix, Dos, Mac)

I know that Textpad and Ultraedit can tell it on already opened files, but these tools can't produce a report.

Thanks

This would be a good idea for a content plugin. The next version of TC will be able to export content plugin data to a text file (as displayed, separated by TAB).

File Encoding would be a big challenge to implement I believe. Especially if the file contains one or 2 Asian encoded in UTF-8 format and the rest of the text is ASCII encoded (e.g.English). Most of tools will report such file as ANSI encoded rather than UTF-8 :(

But still, it would be nice to have it in TC.

thanks
