How to write a new multi-rename plug-in?

Post by *gromul »

I'd like to try writing a new multi-rename plug-in but I'm not sure where to start. I did try creating a simple content plug-in based on a sample, but it seems all you can do with content plug-ins is add custom columns. Is it possible to create a more powerful content plug-in or is some different type of plug-in appropriate?

That is perfectly enough, all you have to provide is fields, that can be utilised either as a custom column, or a search field, or tooltip info or...
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

I don't know why do you need new multirename plugin. If we omit how ugly it is, the integrated multirename tool is very good.

A "Multirename plugin" is a simple content plugin actually. One can use the fields returned by the plugin for renaming files.

What about graphical interface? Can that also be done with content plug-ins?

What do you mean? A content plugin should not have any interface, it should only return strings, and the graphical interface will be the TC itself. After all it is a plugin only, which is a restricted environment anyway.

You should try to examine a lot more this model. As I can see, you don't have a clue about what's happening behind the scene. No offense, just try more, before posting other questions, as you can see, people here are willing to help;

Of course. In general plugin usage it makes no sense but it can be done. Since plugin is just a program like anything else, it can create anything.
We are not doing this just for the money.
We are doing it for sh*t load of money.
