FTP server
Hello
I have just completed the setup of a FTP server. Every sing seams to work. The only problem is that “Total Commander” seams to have problem with the FTP connection and is 9 out of 10 times disconnected from the FTP server immediately after connection.
I have tried other FTP programmes without problems.
When I try other FTP servers with “Total Commander” there is no problem.
Is it a “Total Commander” problem or is it a FTP server problem?
Does anyone have an idea on how to proceed?
/Christian

I can login without problems.
First try was not successful, but when I entered the login from Firefox I could see your file. Then I connected with TC with passive mode and it worked. And after that the connection without passive mode worked fine, too.

Passive mode usually is needed when there is a firewall that blocks incoming connections (on the client PC). Then the client tells the server which port to use and opens this port from inside.cpagh wrote:My TC 6.53 does not work in ”normal” mode.
It seams strange that you had to go to passive mode and back, before it worked at your place.
I just tried the passive mode for testing all possibilities. Don't know why my connection did not work before, maybe it is completely independent from the passive mode and my connection via Firefox was the trigger.
So if you cannot connect without passive mode it may belong to a firewall or a router setting. On the other hand it is no disadvantage to use passive mode. It is only that not each server supports it. To use passive mode is much more secure, because ther is no need to open ports for incoming connections.
