Compare by content in FTP sync

Post by *phz »

I see that currently it is possible to do "compare by content" manually in FTP. However, the box "compare by content" when doing "sync" is grayed.

Why is this so when TC obviously supports compare by content?

Another idea came to me that FTP comparison could be done also via MD5 files that would be uploaded to server (only md5 files would be checked). These files would store md5 sums of FTP files therefore making comparison unnecessary - this would also do. This can be done manually using command line tools etc., but are there any plugins that already do this?

Thanks

Comparing by content will need implicit downloading all the files from the folder and its subfolders. This will take much time and generate much Internet traffic, that's why this possibility is turned off in FTP sync. However, you can compare by content every single pair of files by double-clicking its line - the FTP file is automatically downloaded and compared with the corresponding local file (a Compare by content window is opened).
