bug report:the search problem

Post by *haibinpro »

bug report

workstation
systerm:win2000 sp4
totalcmd version:6.53

main word:search
when i select the folder(such as dm2(route is F:\tutorial\soft\dm2\)),then use alt + f7 to search something ,such as"readme.txt" .
the search diologue will search the file "readme.txt" in the folder i select ,
and then the search in diologue is lock, but the name is the father folder which i choose(that would be F:\tutorial\soft\).

that seems have the logic problem.

does the 6.54a version have this bug.
if not, hope could resolve this bug at next version.
best ragard

tips:
if you are at the window of
F:\tutorial\soft
and want to search some file at subfile dm2,
you can just choose the folder dm2(just knock on "blank" or "insert") and use alt + f7 to search,
the result is the same as go intu the F:\tutorial\soft\dm2 windows and use alt + f7 to
search the file you want .

In hte 'Search for' field you can enter anything you like, even a path on another drive. But if you open the Search dialog TC fills this field by default with the current directory name.

If you select one (or more) folder TC assumes that you only want to search in these folders and disables the 'search for' field. If you uncheck the 'Only search in selected Directories/files you can again edit the 'search in' filed and it is automatically put in the current directory name.

That seems very natural to me.

yes ,after uncheck the 'Only search in selected Directories/files can again edit the 'search in' filed and it is automatically put in the current directory name.

but what i mean the bug is tc don't show the search in diologue right.
for example.
tc seach file in F:\tutorial\soft\dm2 ,but it shows search in F:\tutorial\soft

If you select

F:\tutorial\soft\dm2
F:\tutorial\soft\dm3
F:\tutorial\soft\dm4
F:\tutorial\soft\dm5
F:\tutorial\soft\dm6
F:\tutorial\soft\dm7
F:\tutorial\soft\dm8
F:\tutorial\soft\dm9

it would be a little bit hard to display all those folders. Thus the grey 'search in' indicates: "Ah, all 326 former marked folders are searched in ".

I understand very well what you mean, but I don't consider it a bug at all.
