Are TC 6.54a last release in 6.xx or not?
That's a difficult question. If Microsoft releases a patch which leads to any kind of incompatibility there will be a workaround fix if possible. Such a problem occured in the 5.5.x versions.
Otherwise I guess 6.54a is the last 6.x version.
