TC 6.55 and %Commander_INI%
today i discovered that TC 6.55 set a new enivroment variable %Commander_INI% it is refere to the current Wincmd.ini used by TC
it is greate addition, i returned to History.txt but didn't find any thing about this new addition Why?
%Commander_INI% refer only to Wincmd.ini, what about wcx_ftp.ini? is there %Commander_ftpINI% but not implemented yet?
hope so

It seemed to be in experimental state.
Using an TC instance started from USB stick in addition to my desktop instance, shows correct values for %COMMANDER_PATH% but %COMMANDER_INI% of USB- instance is wrong (points to Desktop-instance location).
Help/About dialog shows correct values for every instance.

Yes, it's experimental.
I cannot confirm that. How is the ini path defined for your USB stick installation? Did you really open the DOS box from within THAT specific Totalcmd instance?Using an TC instance started from USB stick in addition to my desktop instance, shows correct values for %COMMANDER_PATH% but %COMMANDER_INI% of USB- instance is wrong (points to Desktop-instance location).

My fault : I used 2 different versions.
The desktop instance is 6.55pb2 while USB version still has 6.54a
With this mixed environment it only inherits the environment of its parent without any chance to update it.
At the started instance I enter CMD at its commandline.
At the DOS box I enter SET
Using both 6.55pb2 versions it works fine

I start the USB-instance from within the desktop instance via "Launch TC" located in the USB root.How is the ini path defined for your USB stick installation?
Code: Select all
[LaunchTC]
CmdLine=.\_DirectRun\TotalCmd\TotalCmd.EXE /i=.\WINCMD.INI /f=.\wcx_ftp.ini
At the DOS box I enter SET
Code: Select all
COMMANDER_INI=C:\WinTools\TotalCmd\wincmd.ini
COMMANDER_PATH=L:\_DirectRun\TotalCmd

Ah, I see - 6.54a didn't set the variable...The desktop instance is 6.55pb2 while USB version still has 6.54a
Programs shouldn't mess around with that. Why do you need it?What about Wcx_ftp.ini?
