Selection bar disappearing in "Separate tree"

Post by *wanderer »

- In one of the panels, add a second tab.
- Have "Separate tree" activated.
- Click inside a tree panel.
- Change tab.

The selection bar is not shown in the tree any more. If you move it using the up/down keys, it reappears (press up and then down for it to reappear - simply pressing up or down once, does nothing).

I cannot confirm this. Are you using one or two sep. trees? Are you opening a saved tab or just a new tab by pressing Ctrl+T? How do you put focus on the sep. tree, with the mouse or by pressing Shift+Tab? Do you have alternating colors on in the filepanel? which view do you have in the file panel - Brief, Full, Custom, etc.?

I have sep trees in both sides.

Ok, in order to"talk colors" which should make my point more clear, i'm using a default tcmd.ini. If you repeat the procedure i describe above, you should notice the following: When you double-click on different items on each of the tree panels, the item is marked red. It also has a "selection ring" around it. That's what i'm talking about, not the red selection color. If you change tabs while the selection ring is inside the file part of the panel, you can see this selection ring in the newly clicked tab. This is not the case with the trees so when you change tabs, the selection ring stays hidden even if you press up or down keys. You have to click in the tree window in order for it to reappear.

You are right that the selection ring dissapears from both tree panel and file panel, but in my opinion it should appear in the file panel when you click a tab, because the tab belongs to the file panel, not the tree panel.

BTW if you select an alternative second color, then the current folder will have that color in the tree panel.

In my opinion it should appear where it was the last time you visited this tab. If Christian considers that to be too difficult/complex to implement, it should at least be visible somewhere. :)

Confirmed - I will put the cursor in the file panel, that's probably what most users will expect.
