Jump to directory by clicking on it in the pathbar...

Post by *superboy »

I know this feature was recently added, where you can just click on the directory in the path displayed above and you will jump to that directory. However, right now it is done with a shift-click on the directory's name. Is it possible to do this the other way around, so that a normal click on the name will change the directory, and shift-click will allow the user to type in the directory field. Basically, it would do exactly the opposite of how it works now. Is there a setting for this I can switch or anything?

Thanks.

Hi,

to activate single-click jump to an upper-directory add/change InplaceRenamePath=2 in the [Configuration] section in your Wincnd.ini. To edit this file press "Configuration/Change Setting Files Directly" in your main menu. To apply the new/changed setting restart Total Commander.
The downside is that inplace renaming will be completely disabled. Maybe someone else knows how to get the desired behavior.

Woa, I didnt know that, thanks! I tried it, and even inplace editing is working, when pressing Shift-F6 on the [..] folder.

@ghisler:
Please add a possibility to edit path with shift-click, it's bad that it's completely deactivated with InplaceRenamePath=2.

Yes please, I like the possibility to navigate into directories with InplaceRenamePath=2 but I miss the edit path feature.

BTW is it possible to edit the path and the name under cursor in one operation and if not, would it be possible to add this possibility with ctrl-click? (ex c:\program files\AutoHotkey\Extras\Scripts\IntelliSense.ahk)

You mean Shift-F6 on [..] not enough? In fact I didn't catch the trick in your first post but yes this is an alternative, any other idea about editing/copying the path and the name under cursor in one operation ?

Instead of only copying the path I would like to copy the path and the name that is selected (under cursor) in the left panel.

for example I click on wincmd.ini in the left panel and I would like to be able to copy the following value in one operation

C:\Program Files\Totalcmd\wincmd.ini

I hope this is clearer, thanks anyway

If you mean copy to the clipboard, make a button with this command: cm_CopyFullNamesToClip (Copy names with full path)
Or press Shift-Ctrl-Enter then Shift-Right and then Ctrl-C.

:) Hello, bonsoir !
- Just use the I.C. cm_CopyFullNamesToClip for a button or a menu entry…

:) Hi Frank !
- You are faster that night :D
Or press Shift-Ctrl-Enter then Shift-Right and then Ctrl-C …
- Humm… Needs a lot of fingers ! Then, I much prefer the button (in the first default bar), I use that everyday, it's fast (for me) :P

Thanks to SanskritFritz and Clo for their quick replies
(in the order of replies) :D

I like the CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER that copies the fullname to the command line.

PS I've just print out the keyboard layout / Other keys: See command line sections in the help this way I won't bother you with newbies questions :)
